Building dams usually leaves people homeless and destitute. The Kandil Dam in Turkey did the opposite, restoring incomes to those who lost land and providing homes, sometimes to those who had none. This book by two former World Bank managers, with pictures by Ara Guler and Benjamin Ward, shows how a private sector sponsor accomplished this.
